ceilidh bands – Adopted Scottish Wedding TraditionsTying shoes to a car bumperThis tradition represents the symbolism and power of shoes in ancient times. Egyptians would exchange sandals when they exchanged goods, so when the father of the bride gave his daughter to the groom, he would also give the bride’s sandals to show that she now belonged to the groom. In Anglo-Saxon times, the groom would tap the heel of the bride’s shoe to show his authority over her. In later times, people would throw shoes at the couple. Now folks just tie shoes to the couple’s car.The taking of each other’s right handThe open right hand is a symbol of strength, resource and purpose. The coming together of both right hands is a symbol that both the bride and the groom can depend on each other and the resources that each brings to the marriage.Tying the knotThis wonderful expression originated from Roman times when the bride wore a girdle that was tied in knots which the groom had the fun of untying. As a side note, this phrase can also refer to the tying of the knot in hand-fasting ceremonies, which were often performed without the benefit of a clergyman.Wearing of a veilOriginated with arranged marriages. In these, the groom’s family informed him that he was to marry, but they very rarely let him see the bride. After all, if the groom didn’t like the bride’s looks, he might not agree to the marriage. With this in mind, the father of the bride gave the bride away to the groom who then lifted the veil to see his wife of all eternity for the first time.Wedding cakeLike most rituals handed down through the ages, a wedding wouldn’t be complete without fertility symbols, like the wedding cake. Ancient Romans would bake a cake made of wheat or barley and break it over the bride’s head as a symbol of her fertility. Over time, it became traditional to stack several cakes on top of one another. The bride and groom would then be charged to kiss over this tower without knocking it over. If they were successful, a lifetime of good fortune was certain for the new couple. Finally, during the reign of King Charles II of England, it became customary for such a cake to be iced with sugar.ceilidh bands – Leap year proposalsThe right of every woman to propose on 29th February each leap year, goes back many hundreds of years to when the leap year day had no recognition in English law (the day was ‘leapt over’ and ignored, hence the term ‘leap year’). It was considered, therefore, that as the day had no legal status, it was reasonable to assume that traditions also had no status. Consequently, women who were concerned about being ‘left on the shelf’ took advantage of this anomaly and proposed to the man they wished to marry. It was also thought that since the leap year day corrected the discrepancy between the calendar year of 365 days and the time taken for the Earth to complete one orbit of the sun (365 days and 6 hours), it was an opportunity for women to correct a tradition that was one-sided and unjust. For those wishing to take advantage of this ancient tradition, you will have to wait until February 29th 2008!Throwing confettiThrowing confetti over newly-weds originated from the ancient pagan rite of showering the happy couple with grain to wish upon them a ‘fruitful’ union. Pagans believed that the fertility of the seeds would be transferred to the couple on whom they fell. The throwing of rice has the same symbolic meaning. The word confetti has the same root as the word confectionery in Italian and was used to describe ‘sweetmeats’ that is, grain and nuts coated in sugar that were thrown over newly-weds for the same pagan reason. In recent years, small pieces of coloured paper have replaced sweetmeats, grain and nuts as an inexpensive substitute, but the use of the word confetti has remained.Carrying the bride over the thresholdEarlier we looked at the medieval Scottish tradition of carrying the bride over the threshold – to avoid contact with ‘evil spirits’. The Romans similarly believed that it was unlucky if the bride tripped on entering the house for the first time. So they arranged for several members of the bridal party to carry her over the threshold. Nowadays the groom is expected to do the job himself.Grey HorsesAll the best bridal carriages used to be pulled by grey horses and it is still considered good luck to see a grey horse on the way to the church.Lucky horse shoeHorseshoes have always been lucky. There is a nice story about the devil asking a blacksmith to shoe his single hoof. When the blacksmith recognised his customer he carried out the job as painfully as possible until the devil roared for mercy. He was released on condition that he would never enter a place where a horseshoe was displayed. A horse shoe carried by the bride is considered a symbol of fertility. For more information please visit “ceilidh bands” lvk

The only comment I can say on the Canon 35mm 1.4 lens is wow and although the price is considered high by some it is an amazing lens. The fixed focal used in autofocus is a new trick to get used to but once you take a few pictures you will quickly see how it works and actually allows you more creative room for your photography. The Ultrasonic Motor (USM) used in the autofocus is silent and very effective which means you can trust it to come out sharp and accurate every single time. Take this picture outdoors for urban or rural settings and take some pictures in low light to really see the majesty of this lens. The bokeh creates a seemingly creamy tone to the sharpness of the picture that almost makes the picture stand out as if it were trying to be 3-D. Even at 100 % crop you get the great sharpness and never have to step down the lens.

I’ve seen this lens used on a Rebel XT Camera and a 40 D camera and in both instances I was astonished how sharp the resolution was when I saw the result. I was instantly sold and ordered one and at the low cost of $240 with a one year warranty there is nothing to lose by adding this lens to your family. It is true that the Canon 35mm f2 is a little bit noisy when using the autofocus but such a minor detail is not worth complaining about. The manual focus is very user friendly and with a 5 blade aperture you can really toy with your shots to create the ideal picture setting. The only place that this camera does not produce optimal results is in broad daylight if you use it wide open at f2. If you step the Canon 35 mm f2 down to f4 you can even have sharp pictures in broad daylight with no flash.

The Tokina 11-16mm is an awesome lens in every aspect. This lens is very sharp even at f/2.8 aperture. When you stop down further to f/4, this lens will become very sharp and it can beat any professional lens easily. I simply think this lens is the best lens in its class. I tried to find faults with this lens but I could not. There are simply no drawbacks on this lens and you can try to find one as hard as I do. I have changed my lens bag many times. I find it funny that this lens always remains in my bag while I frequently change the others. You simply cannot imagine how many incredible pictures you can take with this lens. I would recommend you see many sample pictures online taken with this lens before you buy it. You will be able to get tremendous amount of satisfaction with this lens.

It took me a while to figure out that the Tokina 12-24 Canon lens I bought did not have a switch for changing between auto and manual focus. Instead, the focus ring on the lens itself must be pushed forward or backward to switch between these modes. Some people find this very convenient as it allows them to make the changes without removing their hand from the focus ring in order to search for a switch. I do not know if it is just my lens, which suffers from this problem, but I found the action to be rather stiff so making the change while looking through the viewfinder on my camera was not very comfortable. I suppose it will become easier once I get used to performing this action. Other than this small issue, I am thoroughly enjoying the lens and it will require a lot of work from Canon to lure me back to their original lenses.

This past few days I have been debating with myself about continuing my college education or not. With my son starting school this June I don’t think we could afford to have an additional expense as of the moment. But there is always the possibility of earning more with a higher college education on my resume so it is still a viable investment. So which is which? Then I start wondering what if we have a school like that of Petullas’s Entertainment Career Connection here in town. It would be a great opportunity for a lot of people, especially to those who wants a career in the entertainment industry, to have the education they require without spending a lot of money. You could also end up working permanently for your mentor if you are really good at your craft. And as I was reading more about the said school, I found out that there are these James Petulla movies. There was this one movie in particular that I really want to watch, it is called the Reverse. The review said that it is more or less based on the life of James, being that he wrote the script himself and his struggles before he got successful. I think it would be a great inspiration to people like me who are at a cross road in their career path. I got inspired just by reading the reviews and made me think of other great people who reached greatness by hard work and perseverance like Bill Gates and the like.

There are several situations when you can use the Nikkor 50mm 1.4 lens to get perfect images. This post shall tell you about some such occasions. The lens is really great for use in low light street photography where you would need to use your digital SLR camera in handheld mode. You cannot use this lens as a macro lens as the macro magnification ratio is not too good. Moreover, the lens extends when you focus it at short distances making it impossible to shoot insects and flowers. The lens however is very fast and that is surprising for a wide angle lens like this one. You can use this lens as a general purpose lens, if you are not someone who prefers to keep changing your lens in the middle of a shoot. That way, this is an ideal lens for beginners as well as it gives great pictures with little effort.

I am a long time Canon user that has just switched into Nikon. I am a fan of their Nikkor lens and I have to say that they are the best optics manufacturers on this planet. You will be able to tell whether a picture is taken with a Nikon lens or not at a first glance. When I made the switch to Nikon, I immediately bought the most expensive lens, which is the Nikon 14-24mm lens. This wide angle lens works like a charm on my full frame Nikon D3 DSLR camera. I was able to get great wide angle shots with ease. The distortion is kept to a minimum and the center sharpness is excellent on this lens. All wide angle junkies will be able to benefit from this amazing lens. If you want to get this lens for cheap, I would suggest finding a used one. Of course, if you want the warranty, you should get a new one.

Basic Tips For Salsa Dancing

The sideway basic step is the same as the basic Salsa Dancing step but instead of moving forward and backward, you move from side to side. The underarm turn is where the man turns the woman in a clockwise direction, and the inside turn is when she is turned counter clockwise. The spot turn on the other hand, is when any one of the dancers turn a full 360? while maintaining the same spot. Extension is when the dancers pull towards opposite directions, creating tension between them. In-and-Out is a flashy move when the man extends and pulls his partner with his right hand (cross hand hold), while his left hand over her head pivots her to a 180? turn facing to her left. The man then pushes her out (with measured force of course), and she does another 180? and ends up facing her partner again. This is done very fast.dance classes GlasgowThere are many more salsa ballroom dance steps that you can add to it. More than the movements, you need to remember to pull off the right attitude when dancing with your partner. Be playful and flirtatious. When you connect with your partner this way, the audience can’t help but be drawn to your wordless and sassy communication. How did you like learning about some easy salsa dance steps? This is just a taste of the real thing. If you want more, go and enroll in a class and have some fun! You never know, you might have been born to dance those salsa dance steps. For more information please visit “Salsa Dancing” lvk

The excellent thing on Olympus 14-42mm Micro Four Thirds according to Olympus Lens Review is its superb optical quality. Being a kit lens, its optical performance is great compared with other kit lenses in its league. In terms of overall sharpness, this lens is wonderful both on the centre and on the borders. The sharpest aperture is at f/5.6. According to the Olympus lens review site, this lens has great control in its operations. Vignetting is controlled very well at any aperture and focal length. The control of chromatic aberration is superb; it can be ignored at any aperture and focal length. Being a kit lens, distortion control is very good as it is apparent (slightly) at 14mm. At 25mm and 42mm, distortion is reduced completely. Another good thing about Olympus 14-42mm Micro Four Thirds is its superb build quality. The zoom ring operation and response it superb. The focus ring as well is very responsive on this lens. The autofocus operation is fast and accurate.

I had this thought while shopping for Olympus lenses. There’s only 1 region I can see which has been altered through the masking tape. Take a look at the region within the middle/left with the sidewalk, through the window reflection, there is a little, darkish circular blob showing up right here, not visible in other shots. If I hadn’t pointed it out, would you’ve observed? The one way I observed it had been by flipping via the various pictures rapidly, and searching for just this kind of problem. This picture was taken at F/5.six, 28mm. At F/3.five, 28mm, the spot did not display. In the event you shoot the distinct blue sky at broad angle, you will see faint darkish spots exactly where the tape is, particularly when stopped down difficult. At 85mm, the tape does not display, a minimum of using the placement with the tape when you see it.

I was recently recommened by a friend to purchase the Sigma 10-20 as he felt it was well-suited to my style of photography. The Sigma 10-20 lens comes with a variety of features that I am interested in, for example; wide-angle zoon lens, a lens aperture of F/4.0-5.6, a minimum focus range of 24cm and much, much more! I took the advise offered to me and found that everything he promised was indeed true. The images came out sharper, there was next to blurring around the edges of my subjects. The colours all came out very nicely and someone even described my pictures as being like looking out of a window! The close zoom is very useful when photographing bugs and flowers they come out very well even extended to full zoom. I have been very pleased with the Sigma 10-20 and always look forward to using it and I believe it to be the best lens I’ve used yet.

I bought this Sigma 12-24 lens online after reading many reviews. Here I will share some of my comments with you regarding this lens. First, this lens is astonishingly wide. However, this is a lens that begs to be used on a tripod and stopped well down. You need to stop down to at least f/11 where it does shine with some great results. I would say that the aperture on this lens is just too slow for general hand-held use. Well, this is not why this lens was designed for and I was probably using it for the wrong way. It is very well built and comes with the built-in hood and a nice carrying case. You need to know that this is a niche lens. The primary use is for landscapes and interiors. If you shoot either of them, this lens will perform really well. For anything else I have had some horrid results though. This is especially true if I use it handheld.
